Village painted with flowers
Zalipie is a small village located not far from Krakow. It is known for decorative painting, whose dominant motif are flowers. The traditions of painting in Zalipie date back to the end of the nineteenth century, but its special flourish took place after World War II. In Zalipie, not only houses, cottages and fences are decorated with floral motifs, but even barns, benches, flower beds, wells and buckets. Some of the paintings are visible from afar, to find the others you need to look into the courtyards. Many huts are also decorated inside, but I was there on an off day and did not have opportunity to visit the interiors. Maybe next time? I like returning to the places that I like. And I like Zalipie, even though the museum climate is definitely not my favourite one.
