Green Pond
The idea for a trek to the Green Pond was suggested to me by Google, which showed me an article about the “Slovak Morskie Oko”. Indeed, after familiarizing ourselves with the trail, we can confirm that such a comparison comes naturally. The route is simple and steadily climbs uphill throughout its length. The lake is surrounded on three sides by high peaks over 2000 meters above sea level, and there is a shelter by its shore. Just like at Morskie Oko! However, there are a few differences. The water in the Green Pond is crystal clear. The trail is not a monotonous asphalt highway, and there are significantly fewer tourists because there are no carriages. So, the Green Pond slightly wins over Morskie Oko. Nevertheless, I recommend seeing both.
Pro-tip: When visiting this area, it’s worth having cash. Parking for the whole day cost 15 EUR.
The map is here. This trail is slightly longer than the one leading to Morskie Oko (18.2 km vs 15.6 km), and the elevation gain is also greater (725 m vs 550 m).
